Although I now have quite a substantial ebook library, it was not always that way. As a matter of fact, I only started to look at ebook stores about 6 months ago. Before that, my library was pretty much entirely composed of conventional books. I had hundreds of novels, dozens of works of nonfiction, and quite a few short story books, magazines, trade journals, and the like. I was very proud of the big collection of reading material I was able to build up, and would often take visiting friends on collections of my library.
The real problem was that I started to run out of room for new books. I had filled pretty much every spare corner in my house with overflowing bookshelves, and there was just simply no place left for more books. Feeling like I was out of options, I picked up an ebook reader and started logging on to ebook stores. I figured that, if I could read a few dozen electronic books, I could pay off the cost of the reader with the money I would be saving off the price of printed books.
What I did not count on was how addictive the ebook store would be. It was not a problem convincing myself to buy books online. I loved being able to carry dozens of books with me on one single text reader, and I was buying new ones every week. In some ways, I initially missed being able to fill up bookshelves with my collection, but I could not argue with the efficiency of ebook stores. It was great to be able to continue collecting books of fiction without using up the few remaining corners in my house.
At first I got most of my books at one ebook store but, soon enough, I began to discover how many options there were for the serious electronic book lover. I started going to the personal sites of various authors, specialty ebook stores, and file trading site where I could download public domain manuscripts. Soon enough, I was an expert on electronic texts. I knew where you could find pretty much anything available online for download, and even could help my friends find books for themselves. I rarely buy printed paperback books or hardcover ones anymore, preferring to be able to thumb through pure text at my leisure. It is nice to be able to keep as many books as I want in my apartment.
