You may have read a lot of articles about how to take time during the day to take care of some of your stresses. These things are great, and are things that you should be doing. However, those things only do so much. You have to know what to do in the moment when things are overwhelming and you feel as if you are going to explode, or perhaps run and hide. Some stress reduction tips tell you that you should make time for exercise, and that is very true. Taking time to do that each day can help you rid yourself of some stress, and helps you feel better. However, when you are in the moment, you can’t just walk out and go for a run. Instead, stop what you are doing, and take a short but brisk walk, even if it is just around your office or up and down the stairs. That short burst can helps eliminate the initial moment of extreme stress. This is not always possible to do, but it is one of the best stress reduction tips that you can keep in mind.
Other stress reduction tips might tell you that something like yoga is good to get rid of stress. This is true, as it is exercise, but it is also about meditation and clearing the mind. You obviously don’t want to stop in the middle of something to whip out your yoga mat, but you can stop and do something very simple. You can take a few moments to take some deep, slow breaths. Count to ten or twenty while breathing in and out. You are going to feel some of your stress melt away. It won’t completely calm you down, but it takes the edge off.
Stress comes when things are rough and you see nothing but the negative in front of you. Some stress reduction tips may tell you to think about positive things to help you out of your mood. What you can do is to make a list of ten or twenty things that are really good in your life. Think about things for which you are grateful. Have this list with you in your purse, briefcase, or in your desk at work. When you are feeling overwhelmed, take out your list and read through it. That should melt away stress in moments by reminding you that things are not as bad as you think.
These stress reduction tips for taking the edge off in the moment may lead you to come up with some on your own. You may find that you are feeling better each day. If you use these along with other stress reduction methods, your levels can go way down. You are going to feel better physically, and mentally you are going to feel more confident because you are more on top of whatever comes your way.
