Going back to Lansing Michigan was a lot of fun for me. It was really almost like a homecoming. After all, I went to Lansing MSU for college. Michigan State University is known for a few things, but many people get the wrong idea. It is known as a pretty big party schools as Michigan state schools go, the home of the Spartans, and an agricultural college. In reality, it is so much more. I majored in art history at Michigan State Lansing, and I think I had one of the best liberal arts education that you can get. I have friends who went to Kalamazoo College, and I don’t think they have anything on me.

Of course, there was more to my time in Lansing Michigan than just taking classes. Although I wasn’t a big party kid in the traditional sense, I did have a lot of fun there. One of the great things about Lansing Michigan is that it has such a sprawling campus. There are miles and miles to wander around and explore with friends. Sometimes we would have wild adventures, but just as often we would take long walks and just enjoy ourselves, relaxing and being young.

When I went back to visit Lansing Michigan, it was a lot different than my college days. The town hadn’t actually changed that much, but I had. I was there for a different purpose – a business meeting. I stayed at the Lansing Hilton – a beautiful hotel right downtown. I remembered some of the scuzzy apartments I stayed in during my college days, and was glad that I didn’t have to go back there. There are some parts of college you want to relive, but other parts are best left in the past. Being comfortable is a nice change.

I did get to visit some of my old haunts, however. When I was in Lansing Michigan the first time, I was a huge music fan. The music scene is pretty good. There’s an active punk scene, as well as a folk music one. Fortunately, there were a couple shows playing when I came back so, even though I was only in town for a day, I was able to really catch up on what was going on currently. I was really impressed. A lot of towns change pretty quickly, but Lansing Michigan seem to have stayed the same. I hope it always does.
