Everyone from my generation remember Swatch watches. When I was a kid, everyone had a Swatch watch. They were cheap, colorful, pretty high quality, and extremely collectible. Somehow, as we were growing up they suddenly disappeared. They went the way of snap bracelets and MC Hammer pants, or so I had thought. I had figured that Swatch watches were gone for good until I stumbled across them the other day.
I was actually looking for a diving watch. I knew that Swiss watches were the best ones, and I had been looking at different stores to find the perfect one. I was going on my first serious diving trip, and I wanted to have a watch that I could use to keep track of my air supply. I was with an experienced partner, but you can never be too careful when you’re diving hundreds of feet below the water! After all, as they always say, better safe than sorry.
The problem was that all the watches that I found were extremely expensive. I didn’t mind paying 200 bucks or more for a diving watch, but I would have preferred not to do so. Then I stumbled across the Swatch watch website. I did not even realize that Swatch watches were still around, but apparently they were. Even more surprising, they now made a much wider variety of timepieces than I had remembered.
When I was a kid, most of the swatches watches seem to be made for very young tastes. They were brightly colored, intentionally silly, and all in all designed to appeal to children and teens. The Swatch watches I was looking at, although still fairly youthful in design, had definitely matured. They did not only have kids designs anymore. They had some very elegant watches, as a matter of fact. One thing about them had stayed the same, however. They were still pretty inexpensive.
The Swatch diving watches I saw looked great. All of them were less than a hundred dollars, but they were waterproof to a low enough depth to suit my needs. Normally, I wouldn’t pay close to 100 dollars for a watch, but after seeing the other diving watches I knew I was getting in deal. What was cool about the Swatch watches was that they even had an automatic depth meter on them. I didn’t know that any affordable diving watches came with this feature. I picked one up right away.
